“Energia dla Wsi”: third call worth PLN 400 million opens on 1 October
NFOŚiGW (the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management) is opening another call for farmers and energy cooperatives. Support will also cover energy storage integrated with a renewable source.
The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) is launching the third call under the “Energia dla Wsi” programme. Applications may be submitted from 1 October 2026 to 31 January 2027. The budget is PLN 400 million, of which up to PLN 260 million is allocated to grants and up to PLN 140 million to loans. According to the Farmer.pl portal, once funds left unused in previous calls are taken into account, as much as PLN 550 million may be available.
Who can benefit
The programme has two main groups of recipients:
- farmers who have been engaged in agricultural activity for at least 12 months: photovoltaic and wind installations with a capacity of 50 kW to 1 MW (not on class I–IV land), as well as hydropower plants and biogas plants of up to 1 MW,
- energy cooperatives and their members: photovoltaic, wind and hydro installations with a capacity of up to 10 MW.
Support may also cover energy storage integrated with a renewable source, which matters for farms where energy production does not coincide in time with consumption.
Grant or loan
According to Farmer.pl, photovoltaic and wind installations are to be financed by loan only (up to 100% of eligible costs), while biogas plants and hydropower plants can count on grants of 45–65%. Detailed rules, including funding levels and interest rate terms, are set out in the call rules, which should be analysed before preparing an application.
Strong interest in the previous edition
The previous, second call showed the scale of demand: 248 applications were submitted for a total of around PLN 1.7 billion against a budget of PLN 1 billion, and the call was closed ahead of schedule. It can therefore be assumed that this time, too, good preparation of documentation from the very start will count.
Significance for landowners
The programme responds to the needs of farms that want to reduce energy costs with their own small installation. It does not replace utility-scale projects connected to the transmission or distribution grid, but complements them. For owners of larger, lower-quality land near electrical substations, the alternative remains a long-term lease for a photovoltaic farm or an energy storage facility, a model in which NRG+ takes over project preparation and the formalities.
